MED Alliance is pleased to partner with Ring Rescue, an innovative medical device company helping healthcare professionals safely and effectively remove patients’ stuck rings non-destructively.

Originally a capstone project for four engineering students, the Ring Rescue Compression Device has seen multiple iterations since the prototype in 2016. Now, a Class 1 Medical Device registered with the FDA, the device is used worldwide and is featured in the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) and Emergency Physicians Monthly.

Healthcare providers don’t enjoy cutting rings off patients. They understand how valuable and sentimental rings are and want to do everything they can to help save the ring.

“The Ring Rescue Compression Device is a perfect solution to help healthcare providers preserve the patient’s ring,” said MED Alliance Group President Mike Schroeder. “It fits nicely into the MED Alliance Group portfolio as another innovative, solution-driven medical device that enhances throughput and patient satisfaction.”

HOW THE RING RESCUE COMPRESSION DEVICE WORKS

Similar to a blood pressure cuff, the Ring Rescue Compression Device applies uniform, measurable, and targeted air pressure to comfortably compress the finger to a more manageable size. Reduced finger size, paired with the non-hydrating lubricant and proper manipulation techniques, set professionals up for success and significantly reduces the need for ring cutting.

The device saves staff time and is a billable procedure with the ICD-10-CM diagnosis code W49.04XA.
