Reliable Blood Transport Without the Complexity: The MaxPlus Transfusion Cooler
Every year in the United States, up to one million units of blood products are lost due to issues such as improper storage and temperature fluctuations.¹ Beyond the financial impact, these losses can delay care and place an unneeded strain on transfusion services that operate under tight timelines as it is. Maintaining blood within the required 1-6°C range is critical to ensuring product safety and feasibility.²
The new MaxPlus Transfusion Cooler (formerly known as the MaxPlus Blood Cooler) from MaxQ was designed to help transfusion services move blood quickly and confidently to operating rooms, emergency departments, and procedural areas, without adding any complexity to these critical workflows.
Dependable Performance for Daily Use
The MaxPlus Transfusion Cooler is validated to maintain 1-6°C for up to 24 hours, keeping 1 to 10 units of red blood cells or liquid plasma safe during transport and temporary storage. Designed for daily blood bank use, it features rugged Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) construction that ensures long-lasting durability and can be easily wiped clean with standard lab or OR solutions, supporting repeated use over years of service.
Equipped with smooth, rounded edges, molded-in ergonomic handles, optional shoulder straps, and wheel attachments, the MaxPlus Transfusion Cooler makes moving blood safer and easier than ever.
Each cooler comes pre-configured with the appropriate coolant packs, eliminating bench-time conditioning and guesswork. With minimal training, staff can pack and issue blood units in as little as 30 seconds. This repeatable process helps reduce variability, streamline operations, and improve response times when blood is urgently needed. The MaxPlus Transfusion Cooler is also supplied with a validation guide and pack-out instructions, supporting straightforward implementation and ongoing compliance.
