As Sedation Deepens, Airway Risk Increases

Moderate-to-deep sedation has become commonplace across ambulatory surgery centers, hospital outpatient departments, and office-based procedure settings. While sedation enables patient comfort and procedural efficiency, it also introduces a critical challenge: as sedation deepens, airway muscle tone decreases, increasing the risk of upper airway collapse, hypoventilation, and hypoxemia.
