Milk Drop Developmental System by MiDIā„¢

MiDIā„¢ Nurtures Infants One Milk Drop at a Time

Milk Drop Intervention Is Grounded in Science

Research shows that 80% of premature infants have difficulty feeding. Immaturity, the lost in-utero experience of sucking and swallowing, and constant oral invasion from routine NICU care result in avoidance or refusal to eat. The Milk Drop Intervention (MiDIā„¢) was developed to help mitigate negative oral experiences and to allow premature infants to safely practice and enjoy sucking, swallowing, and breathing with milk droplets. Grounded in science and backed by research, the Milk Drop Method helps enhance infant comfort, development, and feeding success, with nine out of 10 subject groups having a shorter NICU length of stay. Pre-Feeding Tools Specifically Designed to Deliver Milk Drop Intervention Consistently

The MiDIā„¢ Milk Drop Developmental System advances the Milk Drop Intervention by providing the first developmental pre-feeding tools, intentionally engineered and designed to help caregivers offer the milk drop intervention both naturally and consistently to even the smallest infants. This simple yet powerful intervention introduces milk droplets to infants, allowing them to experience taste and smell as they naturally practice and develop the skills needed for safe oral feeding.

The MiDIā„¢ System Includes

  • The MiDI Milk Drop Adaptor (ENFit-compatible) – The micro-lumen creates a capillary action to pull milk from the hub into the adaptor. Engineered to deliver precise, controlled micro-droplets of milk.
  • The MiDI Milk Drop Developmental Soother – Specifically designed to accept the MiDI Milk Drop Adaptor and transfer milk through its short canal directly into the infant’s cheek.

Benefits of The Milk Drop Intervention

  • Mimics natural feeding and helps infants transition smoothly between breast and bottle feeding
  • Promotes oral development by encouraging healthy suckling patterns and muscle growth essential for feeding
  • Soothes and calms to support self-regulation, reducing stress and improving sleep quality
  • Strengthens feeding skills by complementing non-nutritive sucking therapy to develop stronger and more effective feeding
