Complimentary CME: Radiation Protection for the Interventionalist
Doctors, Nurses and Rad Techs are Encouraged to Participate in a Complimentary CME Program
An Overview of the Occupational Hazards of Diagnostic Radiology and Solutions
Developed by the Cardiovascular Learning Network and provided by the North American Center for Continuing Medical Education, the CME course is proxied by Dr. Snyder, Dr. Makary, Dr. Katzen and Dr. Mustapha, all internationally known for their work in interventional radiology. The course is sponsored by WorldWide Innovations and Technologies.
Diagnostic radiology professionals need to know where scatter radiation is in their facility and how to protect themselves and other staff from radiation in the workplace. Studies continue to reveal that health conditions are more common in interventional lab personnel than in unexposed staff. The rate of problems increases with the number of years worked. Medical imaging professionals can have long, safe careers when they monitor their exposure and employ the three principles of radiation protection: time, distance and shielding.
MED Alliance representatives will offer the CME course as part of a Lunch and Learn that also includes a real-time dosimeter radiation reading in the facility. Representatives will demonstrate how RadPad radiation protection shields provide a “shade zone” on the patient where radiation is absorbed into the shield. Clinicians can move freely within the zone with significantly reduced scatter radiation.
Ensure the safety of your medical staff with a free Radiation Safety Lunch and Learn and CME held in the comfort of your own facility, at a time that is most convenient for your team.
Attendees Will Learn:
- How much scatter radiation they are exposed to during each case
- The difference between primary and secondary radiation exposure
- The regulations and limits set by the EPA, FDA and International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP)
- What can be used as protective shielding
- Basic steps to reduce radiation exposure
